Our auditory systems allow us to take in the sounds of our world, to tell which direction those sounds are coming from.
Example:
A auditory sensory system that is functioning optimally allows us to walk through the park with a variety of noises all around us but stay focused on our conversation with our friend. Or, to follow our teacher's verbal directions in a noisy classroom.
Listening to sounds from nature, toys that play music, pop or squeak all give us auditory sensory input.
There is a lot to learn about our senses and how we receive and organize sensations. Click here to find some great resource materials to dig deeper.
